A celebrated artist, curator, critic, and educator, Howardena Pindell’s work addresses racism, feminism, and slavery. Recorded shortly after an accident that caused partial memory loss, Free, White and 21 revisits Pindell’s youth as a Black woman and emerging artist. Through a deadpan monologue, she recounts the racial violence and discrimination she endured.
