The work Hikayem provides a moving summary of the artist’s life whilst centring on her grandfather. The video addresses the social challenges her family faced and illustrates how these experiences have shaped her present self. In deep gratitude, Almina dedicates this piece to her grandfather, who opened up the opportunity for her to study. Hikayem serves as the starting point of her artistic career, honouring the roots that have shaped her while also exploring themes of identity and origin.
