The video loop 2004 is a superimposition of one-minute video sequences that Sonja Engelhardt recorded around the same time every day that year, without specifically selecting the motif, assembled into an endless loop. Her layering no longer allows identifiability and creates a kind of noise that opens up a spatial and temporal depth. The work tries to make passages of time visible and to overcome the discrepancies between objective past and subjective experienced time, on the borders between visibility/nameability and invisibility/abstraction.
