Chameleon

In dead silence a domestic interior is animated by the billowing fabric of a dress, rushing up to heaven or falling through darkness: Syed wants to shake the viewer’s centre, which is gravity. A woman moves through the house, barefoot, or digs in the back garden. Noise enters abruptly: a dense, vocal, abstract sound, clanging with water tank reverb. It draws the woman to the Yale lock of her front door: outside there is a crowd marching down her street, and a policeman passes by.
